PM Templating
In RCM analysis, Logic Tree Analysis (LTA) is the step used to determine the most applicable and effective PM tasks for a component.  Not only is LTA one of the most important steps, it also has the greatest potential for improved efficiency.   Under current standards, how well LTA is utilized is largely one of personal experience.   Different experience levels between analysts will result in variances in their final PM recommendations - even for similar component types with identical characteristics of criticality, duty, and environment.   Additionally,  the experience level of an analyst contributes to the amount of time required to research appropriate PM tasks.

To improve efficiency and achieve consistency between analysts, a new method is now available to identify the most cost-effective PM strategy based upon equipment type, criticality, duty cycle, and operating environment.  These ‘Templates’ are generated by subject matter experts and are designed to maintain the LTA process of emphasizing condition-monitoring over time directed PMs.
